Summer TV

I have to say I'm hooked on America's Got Talent. Anyone else?

can't say that I've ever watched the show. Sadly, I was a sucker for American Idol the last two seasons, and I just watched this new show Shark Tank last night which was entertaining enough to keep me awake.

Actually, I've been surprised at the number of shows I've enjoyed this summer. Kings would have to be at the top - an incredible retelling of David's rise from farmboy to king. Set in a not-too-distant future, the show is almost an exact match to the Old Testament accounts of David's relationship with Saul, Jonathan, etc. Hollywood liberties were taken, of course, but overall Amy and I have really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I have heard that NBC will not be bringing it back. I think they had a winner.
Another show that I was drawn to is The Mentalist. It airs on Thursdays this summer, and I have really enjoyed the main actor's portrayal of a former con-man turned "good guy." I guess he works as a consultant for the CBI (California Bureau of Investigation). I use the term "works" loosely because it seems he is more of a liability at times because of his complete disregard for being PC. I think this is why I like it so much. I'll definitely keep watching in the future, and will have to find the first few episodes somewhere. Hmm... maybe hulu...?

The Mentalist is one of my new favorites. Something about the concept is good enough, but the character is fantastic for Simon Baker.
